Psalm 145:4
I still have faith in Generation X, Y, and Z. My faith does not come from wishful thinking but from the Scriptures. This glorious gospel that we preach concerning the death, burial, and resurrection of our precious Lord and Savior shall continue to be passed on. It didn’t start with us neither does it end with us. The Psalmist was so sure of this that he gives us hope by prophetically declaring “One generation shall praise thy works to another and shall declare thy mighty acts” (Psalm 145:4). So even though it may look most disheartening and discouraging sometimes, His inerrant Word declares that this shall be passed on.
Therefore, as the older and probably wiser generation, we have an obligation to make sure to set an example for the next generation, to ensure that we are praising the Almighty for His works and declaring His mighty acts faithfully. We are constantly reminded in Scripture to praise Him for His glorious works of creation, to praise Him for His masterful work of redemption, and to praise him for all His wonderful works toward the children of men. We owe it to the next generation. They are depending on us, and we are depending on them – from one generation to another! We are here to declare without apology the mighty acts of God. God has been too good to us, for us to now hold our peace.
I remain consumed by the thought “One generation shall praise thy works to another . . .” (v4). Not only shall we praise, but we shall declare. The word declare means “to make known or state clearly, to announce officially, to proclaim, to state emphatically, to manifest, to reveal. Yes, that is what we remain committed to doing. We praise Him for His works, and we boldly open our mouths and declare His mighty acts until the next generation grasps it and becomes as passionate about this glorious message as we are.
Today, we talk about too much negative stuff and people. Great people don’ t have a lot of time for small stuff and pettiness. We talk too much about some negative political figures and their misdeeds. We need to shut down the television and social media sometimes. Turn it off! Shut it down! The millennials and young people are saying “Tell me something good! Talk again about the wonderful Savior and the mighty acts of God! Let’s speak with conviction and passion again about our risen Savior who came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. Make a declaration! Stop giving the devil so much publicity and exposure. Let’s say “Not today.” Let’s celebrate the victory that the risen Savior has given to us and speak out loudly!
Let us not be carriers of bad news! That’s not the mission or the vision! Here we praise Him for His works, and we declare the mighty acts of God – from Genesis to Revelation to our individual lives and circumstances. Let’s recommit to declaring only the mighty acts of God throughout history and in our own lives. Let’s raise up a standard against every negative vibe and condition. We contradict every evil force of darkness! I feel a holy charge sparking up in this place. Tell me something good! His greatness is unsearchable (v3). We greatly praise Him for His good works. We refuse to sink into negativity and mad chaos. The God of the Red Sea and the God of Calvary is still alive, today in the twenty-first century. Tell me something good!
