HANDLE YOUR BUSINESS

1 SAMUEL 1: 10-19

“So, Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk….” (1 Samuel 1:9). Sisters, it’s time to get up, put your fighting gloves on and wrestle it out not with your flesh and blood rivals, but with principalities and powers and spiritual wickedness in high places. Hannah had had enough! She was driven to her wits end by the continual taunting and provocation of Peninah, the second wife. The writer informs us that especially when they went up to the house of the Lord to worship and to do sacrifice, Peninah would aggressively provoke and tease her to the point of tears and until she could not even eat or properly worship. It is amazing how the enemy knows how to get under our skin and to disturb our mental and spiritual equilibrium, especially when we are trying to focus and entertain the presence of the Holy. Particularly in the very house of the Lord the enemy’s intentions are always to distract and disturb.

However, something arose within Hannah that day. On this particular occasion, something seemed to come alive in Hannah’s soul. I think it was a divine spark! Divine illumination lighted up her soul, causing her to get up and to somehow go into spiritual warfare. Now is no time to sit down and passively take all the evil fiery darts the enemy incessantly flings at us. I hear the Spirit say we need to get up and fight back. I really do believe the enemy has done enough! This is the day when we pull ourselves up. We get up and fight back with every spiritual muscle and fiber in our beings. Hannah became militant.

Something really happens when spiritual women pray. Now is no time to pity yourselves and give the enemy power and authority over you. Jesus pointedly said, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19). Sisters, take the power back! Use the power given unto you in Jesus’ Name. You are much stronger and fiercer than you realize. Today is not a day of defeat! No more pessimism and depression! Today you rise and roar. Let new life, force, and energy spring up within you. Let the God within you be unleashed to do even greater things on your behalf.

This is what Hannah finally did. She rose up, charged into the temple of the Lord, and the Word informs us “And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore” (1 Samuel 1:10). She used her anguish and pain to her advantage. She prayed like never before and wept like never before. I mean, I prayed and seasoned it all with sincere tears. She turned her deep emotions of hurt and despair into positive energy. Women are not weak, helpless, powerless creatures! This passage informs us that they have power in the heavenlies to revolutionize their lives and surroundings! Verse 19 tells us, “… and the Lord remembered Hannah.” She changed her domestic situation and all of Israel’s through her prayers! Sisters do like Hannah – handle your business! Happy Mother’s Day!
